Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Paro – Gateway to the Himalayas

  • Arrive at Paro International Airport, where your Bhutan Lhome Adventure guide greets you with a traditional khadar welcome.
  • Visit Paro Dzong, National Museum, and enjoy a short acclimatization walk around the valley.
  • Evening briefing on trek preparations.
  • Overnight: Paro Hotel
  • Highlights: Scenic valley views, cultural acclimatization

Day 2: Paro – Jele Dzong (Trek Begins)

Trek Duration: 4–5 hours | Camp Altitude: 3,450 m

  • The trek starts above Ta Dzong (National Museum).
  • The trail climbs steadily through blue pine forests, passing traditional farmhouses and yak pastures.
  • Camp near Jele Dzong, a small monastery perched on a ridge offering panoramic views of Paro Valley.
  • Overnight: Camp at Jele Dzong
  • Highlights: First mountain campsite, monastery visit, sunset over Paro

Day 3: Jele Dzong – Jangchulakha

Trek Duration: 4 hours | Camp Altitude: 3,780 m

  • A gradual ascent through rhododendron and alpine forests.
  • Spot Himalayan pheasants and yak herders along the way.
  • Enjoy sweeping views of Mount Jomolhari and other snow peaks.
  • Overnight: Camp at Jangchulakha
  • Highlights: Alpine meadows, yak herder camps, mountain panoramas

Day 4: Jangchulakha – Jimilangtsho Lake

Trek Duration: 5–6 hours | Camp Altitude: 3,870 m

  • Trail follows ridges with spectacular views of mountain ranges.
  • Descend gradually to Jimilangtsho Lake, famous for its crystal-clear water and giant trout.
  • Evening relaxation by the lake under starlit skies.
  • Overnight: Camp by Jimilangtsho Lake
  • Highlights: High-altitude lake, serene wilderness, night sky photography

Day 5: Jimilangtsho – Simkotra Tsho – Phajoding – Thimphu

Trek Duration: 7–8 hours | Camp Altitude (Phajoding): 3,650 m

  • Trek past Simkotra Tsho Lake, then climb to Labana Pass (4,210 m) — the highest point of the trek.
  • On clear days, enjoy magnificent views of Mount Gangkar Puensum, Bhutan’s highest unclimbed peak.
  • Descend gradually to Phajoding Monastery, overlooking Thimphu Valley.
  • Overnight: Camp at Phajoding or drive down to Thimphu hotel (optional)
  • Highlights: Himalayan panoramas, alpine passes, ancient monastery

Day 6: Phajoding – Thimphu (End of Trek) & Departure

Trek Duration: 2–3 hours downhill

  • Descend through forested trails to reach Thimphu, the capital city.
  • Visit Tashichho Dzong and enjoy a celebratory lunch.
  • Transfer to Paro International Airport for departure or extend your stay in Thimphu.
  • Highlights: Completion ceremony, cultural farewell
